My Mortgage Blog

You will often hear me say "it's your biggest investment".

And it's so true!

Buying a home is such an important decision and who you work with will help make or break that experience for you.

Here are my Top 5 Recommendations to know your mortgage professional:

1) Read public reviews. If the majority of people leave rave reviews, it's a good indication the person or company is service focused. Request references if public reviews are unavailable.

2) Make the best overall decision. Don't make a choice solely based on price (rate). Remember the pair of shoes you bought on sale that now hurt your feet? Yup, mortgages can do that, too.

3) Ask the right questions. Inquire about how active the professional is in their industry. Someone who is a member of regional or national industry associations, regularly attends conferences, completes courses or volunteers in the community is likely engaged in their profession and is a good indication of longevity in their field.

4) Are they available? Someone who welcomes client communication will likely be available should an urgent question or issue arise at the 11th hour. Direct contact with your mortgage professional is critical!

5) Trust your gut. After talking with someone, you'll know whether they'll be a match for your service expectations and fit for your personality.
