You're all moved in, now it's time for the house warming par-tay!

Donair Dip

There's no shortage of donair dip recipes online, and if you're from (or have ever lived in) the Maritimes, you definitely know what a donair is!

But if you haven't heard one, you need to check. this. out.

Now, insert the dip version and you have a party appy that everyone will love!

I adapted my own recipe from this version, and you can tweak the recipe further to your taste.

Housewarming Party Donair Dip

2lbs      Extra Lean Ground Beef
2tsp      Dried Oregano
3tsp      Garlic Powder
2tsp      Onion Powder
2tsp      Paprika
1tsp      Sea Salt
1tsp      Black Pepper
1/2pkg  Light Cream Cheese
2C         Light Shredded Mozzarella
1C         Diced Tomato
3/4C     Diced Onion
Donair Sauce (see recipe below)

Donair Sauce
300ml    Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2C    White Vinegar
2tsp     Garlic Powder

  • Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Mix the donair sauce ingredients and set to the side.
  • Cook ground beef on stove top, breaking up as it cooks. Add all spices and mix thoroughly. Drain the ground beef.
  • Mix in the cream cheese, 1/2 of the shredded mozzarella and 1/2 of the donair sauce. Transfer the mixture to an oven safe dish.
  • Layer the remaining donair sauce on top, followed by the rest of the mozzarella.
  • Add the diced onions and tomatoes, sprinkling on the top.
  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes and broil for the remaining 5 until the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned.
  • Serve with sliced vegetables, pita bread, naan bread or tortilla chips.
  • Cut the recipe in half for a family meal with salads for sides.
  • P.S. - The donair dip freezes exceptionally well for later use.
  • Enjoy! :)

I'd love to be part of the house buying process leading up to the housewarming party...but also a guest at the party ;)
