I have a little confession to make - I'm an avid volunteer!
Doing my part as a Haligonian (that means someone from Halifax - teehee!), a Canadian, and global citizen, brings me personal and professional happiness. I'd love to share a little of what I do, what my association does and how my company makes a difference.
My Spare Time
In the last year, I have volunteered my spare time with a local elementary school, hospital, and children's organization, helping with fundraising, education materials, and community events. I truly believe every little bit helps. Many hands make light work!
Association
During my professional time, I have volunteered with Canadian Brokers Association - Atlantic, a non-profit organization that supports mortgage industry standards and advocates for regulation enhancements benefiting consumers (you!). As an association, members have organized various fundraisers through activities we call "Brokering Wishes", and have donated to Make a Wish Atlantic Provinces to support a child waiting for a wish.
Corporate Responsibility
Working for a company that includes a caring and compassion component to their corporate responsibility plan is the other piece of the puzzle. TMG The Mortgage Group is a national partner with The Breakfast Club of Canada. Brokers across Canada have held fundraisers and volunteered at breakfast programs in schools to help children start their day with a healthy breakfast.
There's so many wonderful ways to help others and it's great to be a part of it.
